The Real World Starts Now
As Maine’s only public charter high school dedicated to STEM, Baxter Academy has a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum promoting student ownership of learning through curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math. Baxter Academy students study complex, real-world problems. Students use and build technological tools in a collaborative environment with scientists, engineers, artists, musicians, writers, architects and many other professionals. Our programming also provides access to transferable college credits at no cost to our students.

“The key skills we look for in job applicants at Boston Dynamics are the ones we see being developed by students at Baxter Academy—and those skills are sometimes hard to find even among strong college graduates.”

"I was fortunate to have been invited to experience a mid-year Flex Friday at Baxter several weeks ago. What a gift! While I was met at the door by the executive director, I was soon whisked away by my student guides and, at every stop, again whisked away by the members of whatever project we happened upon – 3-D printers, self-stabilizing bicycles, violin construction, wind turbine blades. I was continuously blown away by the boundless energy, the exuberant enthusiasm, the self-confident expressiveness and the voracious desire to hear reactions."
