INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The real world starts NOW.
Class of 2017 students Abbie Collette, Mae Rosenstein, and Sylvie Rosenstein worked with the Maine Medical Center Research Institute for a year-long internship.
Baxter Academy aims to provide opportunities for our high school students to integrate and collaborate with community organizations within our Portland campus boundaries and beyond. Internship opportunities vary in length and scope: some students have worked on projects with specific deliverables and timeframes, while others have explored professional settings to simply gain experience.

Flex friday internships
Each year, Flex Friday expands in scope and reach to involve more community partnerships and real-world learning. In the 2022 school year, 40 students were out of the building every Friday participating in year-long internships.

At Baxter Academy, we believe students learn what matters most by being integrated directly into the work of the world. We collaborate with a robust network of responsive real-world partners who provide mentorship, internships, and opportunities for students to work within—and solve problems for—our community.
