Bright Futures Conference
The Baxter Academy of Technology and Science invites you to join us for two days of real-world, hands-on learning designed by teachers, for teachers.
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT - $100 off if you register before March 15tH!
Practical Tools for Driving Innovation
At Baxter, we define excellence by connecting students' lived experiences, interests, and passions with their community context as makers and change agents. Our time together will be modeled on that same ethos, convening on the Maine coast where, through a mix of workshops, collaborative inquiry, and exploration, we will build a collective toolbox to drive innovation and imagination in our classrooms.
Participants will walk away with practical tools and curricular resources to:
Coach students to be active community agents
Anchor learning in real-world, complex problems
Create learning experiences that build social, aspirational, and financial capital
Bring academics alive with summative assessments that draw out the uniqueness of individual student voices
Align project-based STEM work with standards in ELA, math, science, social studies, and the arts
Practice concrete routines and support for helping students take real responsibility for their learning; and
Introduce strategies for community-based learning, even in traditional school settings.
