Baxter Academy Chess Program
Led by Baxter Chess Fellow and National Chess Master, Majur Juac teaches a regular chess class at Baxter Academy. Baxter Academy offers a unique chess program taught by US Chess Master Majur Jurac from South Sudan.
This rare opportunity will engage novice and experienced players alike. Students will have the opportunity to join a global community in a game that is over 1500 years old. While the international chess federation (FIDE) host teams from 180 countries. STEM programmers continue to develop artificial intelligence that can challenge evolving World Chess Masters. In 2020, e-sport teams began signing players for the first time.
Courses Offered:
CHES100 - Intro to Chess: Students will learn the fundamentals of the game, including increasing concentration and strategic thinking.
CHES200 - Chess II: Building on the strategy learning from Intro to Chess. Students should expect to be challenged by their peers in tactical thinking and planning long term strategies.
Community Chess meetingS on Tuesdays!
Hosted by Master Chess Player, Majur Juac, Community Chess is open to students 10+. Younger students must be accompanied by an adult. Join us for tournament preparation or simply a time of open play, according to your skill level. We love to see you.
