School Bus Transportation
Best for: Families along specific routes
We partner with Luce Transportation to provide free bus service on four daily routes:
Topsham, Yarmouth, Scarborough
Lewiston
Gray
Gorham, Windham

Public Buses (Metro, Metro Breez, BSOOB)
Best for: Students in Portland, South Portland, Brunswick, Falmouth, Freeport, Gorham, Westbrook, Yarmouth, Biddeford, Saco, or OOB
Baxter pays for your bus pass through the DiriGo Umo app. You'll need a smartphone (or we can provide a physical pass).

Review Metro's safety policies
If you request a physical pass, pick it up at the Front Office.
Planning your route:
Most students arrive at Baxter via the Metro Pulse station on Elm Street
Lakes Region Explorer
Best for: Students traveling from the Bridgton area
Important: The afternoon departure doesn't align well with school hours. Check the schedule before committing.

Casco Bay Lines
Best for: Island residents
Baxter provides ferry passes for island students.

The LAP (Lewiston-Auburn-Portland Commuter Bus)
Best for: Families who want another option from Lewiston/Auburn (often for after-school activities)
This is a state commuter bus service. Baxter doesn't currently have a pass program. Families can purchase fares through the Token Transit app.
RTP Transit
Best for: Cumberland County families with low income or disabilities
RTP provides door-to-door transportation. Rides must be scheduled 48 hours in advance.

Driving Yourself
Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Best for: Parents dropping off or picking up students
To keep everyone safe and traffic moving smoothly, please follow these guidelines:
Morning Drop-Off (before 8:15 AM)
Use Lancaster Street (front of school) OR use Elm Street (before 8:15 AM to avoid buses)
Students exit on the curb side and enter the building quickly
Always yield to school buses in the loading zone
Never pass buses with stop signs out and lights flashing - it's dangerous and illegal
Afternoon Pick-Up (2:40 PM or later)
Cars may queue starting at 2:40 PM
Students are dismissed at 2:30 PM (or when buses arrive)
Walkers, bikers, and bus riders are dismissed first
Parent Carpools
Best for: Families who want to share rides with others from their area
