2023-24

Last Updated: August 21, 2023

Transporation summary video from 2021. Please note that some routes may have changed.

Baxter students travel from over sixty towns daily to get to downtown Portland. We are proud and grateful for the families that demonstrate creative problem solving to bring all of us together each day we are in school. Please see below for transportation options offered by Baxter, as well as schedules for local services in and out of greater Portland. You can also watch the video to the right for a quick summary of our options.

JUMP TO:

School Bus Transportation

School buses are chartered by Baxter Academy via Luce Transportation and serve families along the following four daily routes:

  • Topsham, Freeport, Scarborough

  • Lewiston

  • Gray

  • Gorham, Windham

These routes are subject to change with transportation needs. Students sign up for yellow school buses via the annual student registration paperwork in PowerSchool. When looking to board our yellow buses, look for buses that say “Luce” on the side.

DiriGo Umo Pass App for Public Bus Transit

Starting this year, Portland Metro, Metro Breez, South Portland Bus Service, and BSOOB Transit (Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach) will all come under the same payment structure via the DiriGo Umo Pass app. Students can download the app and set up a username and password. Then they will notify the school of their username and we will switch their account to be paid for by Baxter. Physical passes will also be available for students without smartphones. Click here for instructions for installing the Umo Pass app. To ride, families must submit a form annually agreeing to Metro’s Passenger Policies and Safety Tips.

Students wishing to ride on public transit in 2023-2024 must fill out this form

Student Parking Lot - Somerset Street

Students driving to school are required to park in the student lot as mandated by the City of Portland.  This parking lot is located on Somerset Street next to Verizon Wireless. Parking passes are $50 per month.

If you will be driving to school for the 2023-24 school year, a form will be sent out via the registration packet.  Students who had passes previously will need to re-apply. After you complete the form, you will be emailed instructions for obtaining and paying for your pass. Students will not be charged for August and June. If applying for a parking spot after the registration form has been submitted, click below.

Note: In October we plan to be moving student parking to the Portland Public Market Garage at 315 Cumberland Avenue. We will reach out to families who had signed up for student parking in September with details on the transition. The fee will remain the same.
