Visit from MIT’s Biomechatronics Lab

Thank you to Baxter parent Jim Ewing for connecting Baxter students to MIT’s Tyler Clites and Matt Carney. On Wednesday, we enjoyed a powerful lecture from them on their work with prosthetics and proprioception. Nearly a quarter of Baxter students opted into this experience. Your kids asked fantastic questions - ask them for a summary of the presentation!

GUIDANCE UPDATES

  • Senior families - we encourage you to look at this week’s update on the Senior Notes page (also on the Baxter Guidance postsecondary page).  This week we highlight the CSS Profile and scholarships.

  • Postsecondary Planning presentation during SLCs - Please join us in the Great Room for a presentation about the postsecondary process at Baxter on Nov. 13th (SLC day) at either 12pm or 5:30pm.  We’ll be talking about what your student can do now to be prepared for college or careers after graduation.

  • We’ll be meeting with juniors the week after SLCs are done to talk about Early College options.  Juniors and Seniors can take courses to earn college credits (and get assessed on Baxter graduation standards) at many local colleges for a greatly reduced rate.  You can look at this form for more information, to find links to course lists and applications, and to find costs.  Please email your student’s counselor with any questions.

  • All families - if concerns about progress towards graduation arise at SLCs, or if other questions come up that we can help with, please email your student’s counselor so we can start a conversation about ways to support you and your student.
